CBC News Network

CBC was interested in a fresh new look for The National brand, and we won the bid to update the popular show and elevate it to the next level. We began with the first controversial move into the 21st century for the format: asking Peter Mansbridge to leave the desk chair and stand up to deliver the news.

We created a completely new set, featuring bold, bright graphics based on the glowing art pieces of Dan Flavin, building a floating Plexiglas environment that continues throughout on-air segments and brings an active, modern flair to the CBC national news brand.

The National is firmly entrenched as the leading news provider in the country, and with a long string of Geminis, Canadian Screen Awards and International Emmys, as well as a lifetime achievement award for Peter Mansbridge, is a consistent awards winner.
